Support

There is already a diverse international community at the partner universities of the IUMC. This provides an interesting experience for students as it gives them the opportunity to build a global network of friends and associates. Having to participate in inter-cultural exchanges, students enjoy a rounded education and develop personally while pursuing their academic objectives.

International students are well looked after. They find it easy to settle in quickly with the well-developed support services for international students. In the wider community, students enjoy the welcoming and warm hospitality of the lrish people. Students who come from English-speaking backgrounds have no language difficulties because Ireland is an English-speaking country and the medium of instruction at the universities is through English. All this ensures a truly enriching educational experience.

Accommodation

Each of the universities has modern university residences around their campuses and a number of places are set aside for international students. Typically, these are self-catering apartments comprising several individual rooms which may be en suite or having shared utilities. Each apartment usually has a comfortable common room and fully equipped kitchen cum dining area. There is usually a coin or token operated laundry facility within each complex.

Students can also choose to stay in self-catering accommodation off campus or with a local family in lodgings. Rentals vary with type of lodgings and also proximity to the university or the city centres.

Sports and Recreation

There is much more to life on campus than lectures and the library. Each university has extensive sports, recreation and cultural facilities making for a rich, diverse and vibrant student life.

Clubs and societies provide avenues to meet new people and to find new friends from all walks of life. There is something for everyone - from debating to dancing, music to sci-fi, from acting to archaeology and from trekking to photography.

All the universities have modern and fully equipped sports complexes, and pitches for soccer and hockey and tennis courts are in close proximity. Trips, tournaments, competitions, training or just meetings all add to students' enjoyment and experiences in the universities.

Academic Services

The universities provide an impressive range of academic services, principally the Library, IT Access and Language Centres.

The main libraries are usually centrally located to support the research and teaching of all courses. As well as printed resources, information technology is being increasingly employed to ensure comprehensive and easy access to the growing electronic resources available locally and over data networks.

Language Centres offer a valuable service to language learners of all levels and abilities, whether it is to improve competency to facilitate learning of your chosen course or for purpose of learning a new language.

Orientation Programmes

The universities are committed to making your transition to third level education a positive one. Before starting lectures new students would be invited to participate in orientation activities. These are designed to provide useful information and advice about the academic, social and practical aspects of campus life.

Each university provides a comprehensive range of services so that there is always someone on hand to help if you run into difficulties.
